Anyone who sees sites like YouTube, Tumblr, Reddit, etc. as a "community" is an irredeemable moron. This shouldn't be news to anyone, including such people.
I'm gonna disagree with you on Reddit. While the larger subreddits don't really have a community, smaller subreddits do.

I said Reddit, not "insert whatever the forget subreddit here."

I said Reddit, not "insert whatever the forget subreddit here."
But saying Reddit as a whole isn't a community is false, because of the large diversity in subreddits.

Sure, if you just browse /r/all all day, you definitely won't see a community, but once you dig deeper into smaller subreddits you will.

Are you reading? A bunch of tinier communities doesn't mean that a single big website is a single community. That would then be applicable to the other sites I listed, but it's false. To put it into another perspective, there is no such thing as a singular "American community." It's stupid to even propose.
