Author Topic: ordered a new laptop recently, what do you guys think?  (Read 502 times)

I recently paid $1,050 for a laptop built by HP, it's an HP Envy, 17t-j100, 17.3in.

specs

the reason i didn't get a desktop is because i move around a lot and my current laptop isn't doing it for me with gaming so i can't take it anywhere if i plan to game at all

it ships on the 27th and it will get here early Feb.

at least you'll be able to run blockland with shaders

lol that was the last thing on my mind when ordering this
that new game The Division was more what I had in mind.

I don't trust HP laptops for their chargers and batteries. We've had three different HP laptops over the past six years and each one has had problems with charging. The input for the chargers regularly came loose and meant the charger would not stay in at most angles.
They regularly had problems with the batteries failing to charge, and the more modern ones have had incredibly poor heat vents which fail to expel heat efficiently, and are very easy to burn yourself on.

I've not really looked at your laptop, and I hope it doesn't have problems and it suits you well, but personally I am put off of HP laptops after multiple bad experiences.

both my mom and stepdad have HP Envys (like the first ones that came out) and they work just fine for them

however i did see a review about someone's heat vent crapping out on them

Just remember not to leave the charging cable where one could trip over it, that breaks the AC jack.

It's what causes one having to turn and tape the charger at angles to get it to work.

most of the time i'm at my desk so someone is going to have  to actually try to trip over it

It has excellent specs, I think it's a great laptop for gaming. I bet this can run Blockland on max shaders.
