Author Topic: Video Editors: What effect is this?  (Read 460 times)

Hey guys, this is for all of you who use video editing software. I use Sony Vegas Platinum 11 and I've seen this effect used on many videos before. I'm not sure if it is a series of effects combined or just one.

Anyone know what it is?

god damn it it's that thing. It's like I don't know

What is it, some commercial horribly overuses it during transitions

I think it's supposed to make it look like it's from the '70s or something, a neat glimmer from some angle with the sun, it's basically a sliver of Instagram in motion

You can probably emulate it by overlaying some kind of texture with something (addition, overlay, glow, etc.) and moving it quickly by, fading in and out. I'm pretty sure my Vegas Movie Studio only has "mask (multiply)" as an overlay option, which sucks.

It's called a light leak (too much light from a certain part of the spectrum being let in). And yes, it can simulated.

It is such a pain in the ass cause I have no clue what to even search.

Looked it up, thank you!

As if this wasn't clear
Might not be to some people, so I'm just providing them with possibly helpful info.
