Author Topic: Another issue with my moms car  (Read 323 times)

So my father was driving her car on the highway, and for some reason ABS, which is the anti-brake lock system, came on, and sometimes the AWD indicator would come on (AWD is automatic). Anyone know what's up? the highway was wet but it wasn't really enough to make the tire spin and make the car go slower than the tire is spinning. Car is A 2007 mercury mariner. Used. Lemon law?

They also just changed the transmission because of be previous problem with the squealing.

Usually those lights come on for the most minor issues and sometimes no issues at all. My first car I ever had, an 08 Accord, I drove for 3 years with the oil and ABS lights on even though I had the oil changed and the car inspected regularly. I wouldn't worry about it unless there is a noticeable issue. Maybe bring it in for an inspection.

I guess, it's not my car so i would have to convince my mom to bring it in. Dad say it could be a crack in the tone ring?

It might be an issue with the detection system within the car itself. My dad's Mercedes CLS also had issues with it's ABS because of the system glitching it. The car was limited in speed to around 30mph (or i think the rpm was lowered considerably) when we should have been going at like 50mph.

I suggest you get your dad to get his car checked out. Usually this defect can increase over time.
