Author Topic: Bill would place 'love offender' on convicted offender's license.  (Read 2333 times)

Pretty much "Well, I'm already a love offender so why listen to rules?"
Kinda yeah.

It's even worse though.
People with reccords like this (even just being labeled a 'felon' increases recidivism rates) have trouble getting stable jobs and housing, which prohibits them from acclimating back into society properly. If you can't even get a job you're a good bit more likely to commit crime.

And remember:
love offenders have some of the lowest rates of recidivism of any type of criminal.

The love offender label SHOULD exist.

Who would want to be groped or licked by some weird person?

Thankfully we have Meagan's law.

I kinda hope you're joking.
Being labeled a love offender greatly increases ones chances of committing another crime.

I think it should be registered but only accessible to law enforcement for judicial purposes.

The label 'love offender' is a very, very broad term that encompass many crimes. You can get 'aggravated child sodomy' on the registry for receiving a lewinsky from your girlfriend or something iirc. problem is, nobody who reads that charge in a job interview wants to hear the explanation behind it.

i wish people were more educated about this stuff. when someone hears the word 'love offender' they automatically assume they're a child rapist which in most cases is very very inaccurate.

so does having an unclean criminal record

so does having an unclean criminal record
Correct. A study in Florida showed that of criminals who were convicted of the same crime but had their adjudication withheld (were not considered felons) had levels of recidivism 17% lower. Though these are slightly different issues, the love offender registry should be abolished, and judges should be more stringent regarding adjudication.

I don't think we need to ridicule offenders further.

I guess not much bad could come from it though, aside from the ridicule thing.

THEN DON'T BE A love OFFENDER.

Honestly it depends on the tier of what kind of loveual offender they are.

If they are a tier I, this would just forget them up. Tier II and III is understandable.

i dare a girl to card me just to talk/interact with me lol. i may just punch her for doing so.
