we're poor yo
there's no way my dad would pay a stuffton for 3 people to fly out to wisconsin for a few weeks, get a rental car during that time, and fly back
the last time we used a plane for a family vacation was for when we went out to california to visit a grandma. we only went because she told my dad, instead of paying her back some money she loaned him to buy the house, to take a trip out to see her in san fransisco for a few days.

I thought motion sickness was caused by the brain being psychologically confused about whether you're moving or not

I'm probably wrong oh well

Actually this is partially true
See theres a sort of system in your ears responsible for sensing your motion and balance, and when your in a car, the system is detecting motion and the eyes see that the outside world is moving, but the interior of the car isnt. The brain gets confused by this and interprets the appearance of the moving outside world as a hallucination caused by a toxin you swallowed, so the brain makes you nauseous and makes you vomit in an attempt to rid your body of a toxin that isnt there
