...and I see a lot has changed. Can someone explain what's new and such to me? I see that we apparently don't have maps anymore, and RTB is down. Is the only place to get addons for the game now here?

Maps were removed in August 2012 in favor of shadows and shaders. This was the "v21 update".

RTB shut down February 16, 2014.

Unless someone successfully starts another RTB-like site, yes, you can only get add-ons here.

Oh, yeah, I forgot, Steam happened on December 16, 2013.

Here's the short version: Version 21 removed maps and added shadows and shaders for bricks in their place, as well as game modes. Blockland got greenlit and is now being sold on Steam. Ephialtes was dissatisfied with development of the game and decided to discontinue work on and shut down RTB and all of its services. There has been no complete replacement for RTB's feature set as of yet. An archive of RTB's add-on files exists here: http://rtb-archive.host22.com/
