Author Topic: Good server computer for atleast 200$?  (Read 1993 times)

youre going to need one hell of an upload and download speed.

Mac Mini Server is actually surprisingly good. I've had it on for over three months at one point with no hiccups at all. Just put windows or linux on it (but OSX works too) and you're fine.

It's really expensive though, but the cast aluminum case looks nice and it's pretty forgetin' strong.

at this point i wouldnt even suggest anything. he should just rent servers from online unless he has 100 up and down speeds for his internet.

+ watch out cuz your isp can kick your ass if youre doing major hosting on their bandwidth

I like not reading things.

serious though, I don't think you'll find any help here, especially from people like me wow
(and the fact you can't even afford a keyboard with that kind of money. just rent a server or wait until something else pops out)

what's the difference between a server computer and a PC
can't you also run a server on a home computer

200 mhz processor
0 GB HDD

Well for a home server, you don't need a video card, that's pretty much it
For enterprise level servers, they use CPUs and other parts specially made for servers, because they include technologies that simply aren't needed for consumer level uses.

thanks

Hey I found a super good server that would fit your needs, but unfortrunatly it's $199, so it doesn't meet your at least $200 standard.
you're a dumbass
i meant a server computer for around 200$

Kids need to stop thinking they can buy a computer and it'll be a good server. Just go buy some hosting from something on the internet, you're not getting anything decent for $200

If he wants to waste the money, let him.

my chinkpad r60 was $90 and has 10x better specs then that

Is Chinkpad a new company? I never heard of it.

Pretty sure it was a reference to Lenovo's Thinkpad laptops.

Why don't you just go to NFOServers or something? Hosting off of your own connection probably would be stuffty anyway.
this

You can't really get a decent computer for under 200$ and you can't host something well from your home.
No offence but this is why 13 year olds aren't server hosts.
