The sound of my laptop just stopped working randomly

I can't get my laptops built in speakers to work. I even plugged in some spare speakers that i still had from one of my old computers, and they didn't work. The only thing that works is my headset. Any ideas why this happened and if there's a way to fix it without taking it to a shop?

Check your devices in sound options at the control panel. What all there is enabled or disabled?

It says that it's connected and active and there's nothing i can find that's wrong other than it just wont work. no sound comes out
