Does [ftp][/ftp] even work?
As far as I can tell, not really. From quick research, it's just an alternate version of a URL basically, and probably outdated since most sites nowadays use FTPS only, so unless you're downloading a pirated copy of doom off some site from 1995 or something equally outdated and dumb you're probably not going to run into an FTP link, ever.
