Author Topic: Issue with Greek2Me's Blockland Dedicated Server Script  (Read 2097 times)

nano /etc/sudoers

add to the bottom

nal ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL

Then try the first thing again
"Cannot exec 'blockland-server': Permission denied"
Same error w/ root

Try doing it without being in screen or tmux, just top level in the nal account.

root@nalnalas:/usr/local/bin/blockland-server# sh blockland-server
Starting server 0
root@nalnalas:/usr/local/bin/blockland-server#

I don't think I have the proper server stuff, I just copied over the blockland folder, would blockland portable be better for this?
Nothing shows up on the masterlist.

Okay

Screw it, lets just not use the script.

screen

xvfb-run -a wineconsole --backend=curses ~/Blockland/Blockland.exe ptlaaxobimwroe -dedicated
//obviously replace the path above with your actual blockland path

ctrl+a
d

And to get back in

screen -r

Also I recommend switching to vanilla debian for hosting Blockland, it handles it the best.

wineconsole: Starting program "/root/home/blockland-server/Blockland.exe ptlaaxobimwroe -dedicated" failed.
The command is invalid.
XIO:  fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":99"
after 646 requests (576 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
root@nalnalas:~#

I'm going to try the other commands again, because I forgot to install a few packages (stupid me) since I've done a bunch of re-installs
nal@nalnalas:/usr/local/bin/blockland-server$ sh blockland-server
Starting server 0
nal@nalnalas:/usr/local/bin/blockland-server$
screen outputted the same command, so I tried just starting it without screen, still wont show up
like I listed before, could this be because I'm not using proper server files? I'm using ones from my main directory, and I've heard to use the portable install.

you mean rm -rf?
Actually, RM stands for Remove, R means recursive and / defines the area which it recursively removes aka remove everything and everything on external hard drives, it's more destructive than rf.

Uh.. rf are flags. They don't delete anything on their own. Nal was pointing out that you were missing the force removal flag.

SRSLY, for beginners in VPS, i suggest Windows. It's way more user friendly with hosting. That's what i use. Tried ubuntu, but ended up nearly flipping the table.

Go away.

Shoo.

I've noticed using Greek2Me's script after shutting the server down on my own computer with another Blockland client up, sometimes a Gnome-Session window will stick up.
It's hard to explain, but it breaks Blockland all together (or anything ran through WINE), and I cannot fix it without restarting my computer.
I've narrowed it down to the script, or the things the script uses, since after I stopped using it I haven't had the problem any more.

shill
I've used Linux since ubuntu 12.04, I'm not much of a beginner
I got it to work anyways, pecon helped me on steam and I'll post everything  in the morning.

I've given up on using his script.
