how in the world do you people turn off your google history? my browser (chrome) doesnt give me any option for that other than clearing my history manually

You're using the all-knowing google browser. There is no off button for google tracking you through chrome.

If you're using Firefox, you can simply install the Ghostery and Self Destructing Cookies extensions, and you're good to go.
