Author Topic: Computer shuts down over Time  (Read 1149 times)

After like an hour of gameplay, a huge spike of lag hits and slows down ALL the music and sounds completely. After 2 minutes of this happening, the game immediately goes black, and seconds after, my ENTIRE computer shuts down. Is this an add-on or something? I need to know and FAST.

You need to upgrade

I've been thinking about it. I don't have the money though. But my blockland runs just fine.

Could be a problem with overheating, I've had this a lot.
Make sure the insides of your computer is cleaned out, and if it's a laptop have a fan next to it, and leave it propped up so the fan intake isn't blocked.

This is the most likely solution

766 mb ram
Windows vista
This is potentially a cause too. Microsoft recommends a minimum of 1gb of ram for vista.
This could be the cause of the huge lag after an hour; when all your ram is used up, your computer will use the hard drive as "virtual memory", but it's a lot slower

when all your ram is used up
No edit: this can easily happen if you're trying to run a server AND a client on the same computer (as you are on your console.log)

Then what should I do?

My computer hasn't overheated before...

Clean out your computer. Dust buildup is a very common cause of overheating
Go to an electronics store, or just a store with a decent sized electronics section, like Target or Walmart, and buy a can of compressed air (looks something like this)
Take off the cover of your PC, and spray out any dust, especially on and around fans and exhaust/intake ports
Make sure you hold the can rightside up, or it'll spray freezing liquid instead of air

Why did you bump this? This issue has been fixed.

Speaking of useless bumps, this one isn't so useless. There's a free tool I use that you can use to see the all the temperatures inside your computer that it will give. It also does CPU usage, power usage, etc. I recommend using it, my computer sits at ~150oF when I push it so that should be fine for yours as well.
