Author Topic: Are music files over 500kb STRICTLY prohibited?  (Read 1305 times)

I'm asking because I have some long ambient tracks that actually loop relatively well and that I've tried to shorten a bit while still keeping the biggest variety of the sound in the file.

Blockland will delete any music file that is over 1MB.

Blockland will delete any music file that is over 1MB.
So there wouldn't be a problem with posting ~800kb?
No removal or anything?

cant exceed 999kb otherwise it wont execute, otherwise yeah anything lower and ur set. useful method for tracks that are way over the top includes cutting them 2 30 second separate clips of the piece and then using relay events w/ name bricks in game to link each other within 30000 ms intervals

It won't forcefully delete the file, it'll just flat out ignore anything more than 1MB. You can get as close to it as you want but try to keep it as small as you can

Ambient tracks can generally have a lower bitrate per second.

It actually does as far as I know.

800kb is fine. It's not about posting them, the game will simply not accept too large files. So if your game loads the music, go ahead and post it.

p sure it just doesnt execute/showup when youre picking out music for the tab, but will remain in the music files listed in the addons folder until removed

ya thats about it still p useless if over the limit

Why is the limit still there wasn't it designed back then when people had bad internet and downloading music took forever?

that and badspot didnt rly want any companies filing lawsuits for their copyrighted material

or something along those lines xd

Shouldn't that only be considered if its from specific artists?

I'm sure game soundtracks are allowed.

No they won't. They will just be ignored.
Stereo music files, on the other hand...

Couldn't a bypass be making your own execution for music? I don't know much about the checks with execution and such but couldn't you play it a different way, or load it in the brick itself? What is stopping us from making a script to load like 50 different sounds into a song via script and then make it register on the music brick list, except it just plays multiple music files instead of one.

We did it for new years.
Doubt badspot wants it released though.
