Author Topic: another dumb idea by kc311: payback on game services  (Read 351 times)

ok here we go

Idea: Payback
Description: You usually have a lot of money on Steam leftover from selling all those items on the market. S' a shame you couldn't buy that 5$ hotdog down the street, but you have the amount on your Steam account. What if there were a way to get it to one of your payment methods?
Explanation: There would be a option in account settings to transfer money from your Steam account to one of your payment methods. You could type in the amount you wanted (like 2.75 or something), but you couldn't go past the amount you already have. This will not work on accounts recently logged in on a new browser or on brand new payment methods to protect your money.

What do you guys think? It's probably not beneficial to the game companies/Steam/Valve, but it seems cool.

I doubt this would be added, but it does seem like a cool idea.

I think it wouldn't because, well, think of TF2.

You get crate drops daily. (If you play.)

You could sell those for roughly 2 cents a day. (If you only got one.)

So it would be like a ridiculously low paying job.

But fun? I guess?

Now imagine those two cents spread across the thousands of active players on at once.

Its more than you think it is.

Valve would need to conform to a lot of laws and get approval from various government agencies in order to be allowed to actually make deposits back into people's accounts for any reason other than basic chargebacks, which they already do.

Personally I find it pretty silly how there is more regulation on how you can get money put into your account than there is for money to be withdrawn from you.
It's mostly due to anti money-laundering laws, though.

There are security risks, conversion factors, and general dis-interests to do this.
