Author Topic: Headphone jack isn't working on laptop for some reason  (Read 436 times)

Sorry, I know I make a little bit too many of these help topics, but you guys usually work.
I accidentally stuck my headphones into my speaker jack. I pressed "microphone" on it for some reason. I unplugged it and then put it in my headphone jack. My headphone jack no longer works. I hear a tiny bit of laptop static feedback (you get it in lower end headphones) but that's about it. If I open up the equalizer, it thinks it's playing sound, but it's not. I've tried other headphones. What do I do? Sound plays from the laptop speakers.

It's not a driver issue, as there are no new drivers, and I never updated.

The only thing I can think of its the little nub thing on the end of the male piece broke off in the headphone jack.

check in the speaker settings on the control panel, something may have changed when you plugged in a headphone. if thats not the problem, then its likely that your headphones/computer is broken now.
