Author Topic: Bits Sent drops from 1023 to 16, causing faux lag  (Read 1444 times)

Occasionally when I'm playing on a server, I'll start lagging - still able to see people chat and move around, but I'm immobile and can't say anything.

The lag is coincidental with the "Bits Sent" value in the ctrl+N menu dropping from 1023 (usual) to 16 (bugged.) The bits sent seems to return to 1023 if an admin d-wands you. It also solved by reconnecting.

None the less, this bug is annoying and I'm wondering if there's a fix.

No console? No computer information? No information on when/where this is occurring, if it's only on one server or multiple? If you tried the basics to fix the problem? No? None of that? 10/10 post, will help again.

This occurs at random intervals, there is no console report and it happens under any circumstance. Basically it occurs randomly.

I've seen the most common instance on Gentoo's servers, but it's the only server I play on at the moment, so i'll try to reproduce it on another server.

I've restarted BL multiple times, rejoined server, etc, though I haven't tried uninstalling add-ons. I'll try it and get back to you.

This occasionally happens to me while I'm loading on other people's servers, usually when there's a bunch of files to download. The load pauses, I can see people chatting but I can't chat, and re-joining fixes it.

Jesus christ, stop being rude.

It sounds like the old infinite lag bug.

Jesus Christ, stop being rude.
For what reason? When someone says "I need help with this!" and then give little to no information on how someone can help, then I will be rude.

And yeah, sounds like the lag bug. You can try to remove some script and client add-ons that you find yourself not using, that may help but who knows?

OP, you aren't using BLHack.dll, are you? The symptoms you're describing are very similar to the ones caused by that.

If you can't act maturely then you need to leave the Help board. He gave quite a bit of information about the problem, and a simple question could have verified anything else. Even if he didn't give any information, there was still no need to lash out at him.

The problem is that you don't actually help the OP, and you just lash out at him. When people like me point out how you lashed out at OP instead of actually helping, you lash out at people like me who pointed it out.
Stop it.
