I don't know any med building clans or idk, but if you need to know some about basics, you can find some tutorials on the forums.
Sleven made a good one abut how to build a house, or Conan made one about terrains.

You said you were a med builder, so, i think one good way to make progress is to watch and learn from others on publics servers or city rpg, you can find pretty nice ideas on them.
