Author Topic: Debate (Not-yet-)Megathread: What's your stance on GMOs?  (Read 936 times)

I believe that genetic modification has done a lot to help us gain the resources we need faster. The thing I don't like is when they're trying to use GMOs so they can abuse other things. (Example: Making genetically modified corn that is immune to pesticide, and then drench the corn in pesticides. It might not hurt the corn, but it most certainly will hurt the person who eats it, to some extent)
This.

I have a garden that I grow sweet corn and tomatoes (among other things) in every year. I never use any fertilizers or spray. I did, however, buy my first set of seeds at the store. that being said, I have no idea what sort of "genetic modification" has been done to the seed of my crop. I imagine the "artificial" genes have faded over the years of the tomatoes reproducing themselves to their "original form"

That's not really how genetics work, otherwise evolution would be impossible as we'd regress back to bacteria.

Goth, try composting.  If you can get ahold of some good chicken feces-based compost, that garden will be hugely productive, and it will be natural and taste amazing.
