Author Topic: So I'm really stupid.  (Read 589 times)

I have no idea why, but I was messing around with my CPU cooling unit, trying to get it off. I heard a snap and thought I broke it, so I frantically unscrewed the back screws that held in the back that held the backplate in place. I ended up having to dissasemble the entire PC, cooling unit and eveything, get the backplate and screw it back in, and re-assemble the PC.

I found out that the cooling fan was OK, and the snap I heard was from the thermal grease holding it together. Everything works, I just need to re-apply thermal paste ASAP; but I won't be using it until then.

TLDR: I used my idiot powers to destroy and rebuild a computer.

clean the old thermal paste off first with a little alcohol and a coffee filter
