Can't upload new profile picture?

My current profile picture is 10KB, and I'm trying to upload a 6KB one and it's telling me its too big.
I've tried .tiff, .png, .jpeg but it rejects all of them.
What am I doing wrong?

Try .gif, for some people that seems to be a working format.

now when I do it it reverts to the last avatar I had, the one without the santa hat on my DWand that animates...
what the serous forget is going on they're separate images!
