Looking for a decent CPU-efficient antivirus

I've been having strange CPU patterns and I think my previous antivirus softwares (AVG and Avast) are causing them. Any Antivirus will work but it would be nice if it was free or exclusively for viruses.

Honestly, MalwareBytes seems fine. You would just have to know when to scan.
