Author Topic: Would it be beneficial to host blockland servers on a flash drive?  (Read 869 times)

I'm talking about the "portable" version, so the add-ons and stuff would be on the flash drive itself and not in my documents.

Anyway, since I have the steam version can't do dedicated hosting, I was thinking of using a flash drive containing the portable version just for hosting. The one would have all of the add-ons I would ever need for hosting, and I could put it into any computer and still be able to host from there.

Would this be beneficial? Or do flash drives take too long to load data, and downloading files from my server would take forever?

The network would likely still be the bottleneck (rather than the disk speed), so you should be fine. I certainly wouldn't use it for my servers, though.

I also have a laptop with a stuffty processor
would it work if I use that?

Then the processor will likely be the bottleneck.

I see.
So if I use my regular pc, the flash drive shouldn't be a problem?

aye im workin on something that lets you enable addon packs and you can name them n stuff, and select what packs of addons you want to use. so if you feel like hosting a tdm you can have your weapons and vehicles in a pack and if you feel like hosting a good ol sonic love rp u can easily switch addons
