Author Topic: Cannot spray in Gmod  (Read 1480 times)

I figured this wouldn't go in the Games board because this isn't discussing other games. It is asking for help. And, also, I don't see any help topics in the Games board.

So, when I'm in Gmod, when I try to spray, all I hear is the spray sound. Nothing appears, I only hear the sound, and on some servers, if I look where I sprayed, it says "Sprayed by: Setro". The image is not transparent and is a .jpeg image.
Please help. I'm missing out some fun of the game over this one issue.
Also, on that one server I was on, I saw people spraying perfectly, without any issues.

you dont need to spray. you would probably spray family guy hentai or some stuff anyways

Thanks for being so helpful.

in all seriousness, try validating files or something like that

Anyways, try checking the image you're trying to spray, and try to use a different image.

Try scaling it down in size.

Maybe the server(s) disabled sprays.

Try scaling it down in size.
this

The image size cannot be over 256x256

believe it or not there have been a lot of help topics in games, its just that not many people are needing help recently

this was a help topic still on the first page, actually

try using a different file format
I know it can be really picky about that

Yeah, it's a bit of a pain trying to convert my png's to jpg just to be able to spray them.

It should automatically convert them to the proper file.

Just use this: http://tfsprays.com/Create/Static

Then throw both files you download in steamapps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod/materials/vgui/logos

You can't see your spray logo in singleplayer and the file needs to be a VTF file with a VMT file to go along with it

http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=238#p238

Just import your JPEG image and make sure it's dimensions are 128x128 or 256x256, after that, set the normal and alpha format to DXT1 with the texture type set to animated texture, then in the Advanced tab, make sure the version is 7.4 or 7.5

Then save your VTF to Garry's Mod's materials/vgui/logos directory, after saving the VTF file, press Ctrl+N for a new file that's in text format, then paste this over what's currently there
Code: [Select]
LightmappedGeneric
{
"$basetexture" "vgui\logos\NAME_OF_YOUR_VTF"
"$decal" "1"
"$decalscale" "0.250"
}

Then save your VMT file to the same place as your VTF file and with the same file name
