Author Topic: Would you consider building a medium of visual art?  (Read 1261 times)

I've just thought of this and wondered if anyone else has the same thoughts as me. I would consider building a medium of art because it stands as work that exists to provoke a reaction, which arguably all art is intended to do. It's very similar to architecture which is undoubtedly a huge art form.  I'm not going to include a poll in this topic because that allows people to give their response without elaborating why. I'd love to have a nice discussion with some intellectual forum-goers about this.

Yes, I definitely think that it is an art form.

Just as much as sculpure or modeling architecture is an art form.

I do agree that it is an art form. You create something for others to enjoy, either by using, to view or otherwise, as if a painting or something of the sort.

Yes. It's a creative process that is meant to provoke an emotion in the viewer.

Definitely an art form.

it's trivial but yeah, i'd think so.

What pretty much everyone above me said. Yeah, to answer the question in the title, I do consider building a medium of visual art.

The only reason I play this game now is to build something that is pleasing to the eyes, so yes.

Lego's themselves have always been seen as form of art, there have been a few museums that have featured sculptures made out of Legos as well as Disney/Legoland having large sculptures made out of them. So why wouldn't we consider a game that was originally a Lego game, to be an art form as well?

It is an art form imo, allows people to express themselves like any other artwork types.

In my opinion, anything that pleasures a sense is a art. Art for the eyes, music for the ears, taste for the tongue.. I'm not sure how far that applies, but that could mean that smelling could be an art. (atleast to me and my gas)

Yes, in fact, it is my favorite form of art.

i think it depends on the build
if you're building a massive rooster or a shrine to the nigerian cunts, that's not exactly "art" in the sense used here
if your design is something like a city or a 1:1 scale model of the Mona Lisa, i guess so
