Unable to add friends on steam on a new account activated with Key

Hey fourms

I managed to kick up my old PC and get my old key from it. Since I already own a new key I decided to make a new steam account and activate my old key on there using the key transfer feature on the site. I logged in and played the game for 5 min. I then tried adding my main account into my friends list, but it didn't work. I know you cannot add people as friends if you have not purchased a retail game, and I hope the old key counts as retail, but I'm lost as to what to do.

EDIT:

I just had a friend add me on my old account and he could. It appears to be a problem between my account and the other account.

Locked. Fixed after I authorized this PC and enabled family sharing on both accounts.
