Author Topic: Server can't verify BL ID  (Read 981 times)

Ah yes, the blockland forums. Marvellous reputation I've gained here. ^.^

Anyways, after having my computer taken away after my parents found out of all of the bullstuff I've been dumping on these forums, I got a new lappy since my old desktop is chugging to life. You can't do stuff with singlecore computers now-a-days. Anyways, onto the problem. I open BL, it authenticates, all good. Except when I try to join a server, boom. (No, closing BL and reopening didn't work and I'm stuck with dial-up for a few weeks while my neighborhood repairs the broadband. Some starfish cut the fiber optics) I got the following error. (Attatched because 128kbps dial-up connection won't open imgur.)

So, putting aside all of my bullstuff, may I have some help with this problem? (BTW, you forumers are expert detectives.)

TL;DR: I'm back, bitches and I need help with the following error (No, closing BL and reopening didn't work and I'm stuck with dial-up for a few weeks while my neighborhood repairs the broadband. Some starfish cut the fiber optics):

Nvm, seems to work now. Thing is, what could have been the cause. I fixed it by changing my name and changing it back, incase someone happens to run into this same problem.

Found the problem: Dynamic loving IPs. If the IP changes while the game is running, you get this error. Reauthentication seems to fix it.

If you have a laptop and you close it while playing the game (You cannot be in a server) the authentication error occurs.

Solution? Shut down BL and restart it.

I never closed the laptop, it never went to sleep. What happened was, since I'm on a dial-up connection, I have a dynamic IP. I'm not sure if every dial-up connection has a dynamic IP but it seems to be the case here. I noticed when posting on the forums that, whenever I get disconnected and immediately reconnected, my external IP changed, causing the authentication error on Blockland. I tried it twice and got the same results.

a lot of isps will not allow you to get a static ip free of charge, but some will allow you to change the time between the next ip change, or set it to a specific time. Not sure if your dial up would allow this though
