Author Topic: What Happens to My Key  (Read 882 times)

What happens to my key when I move houses? For example: I activate key at house A, then move to house B with a different IP?

Let badspot know you moved so he doesn't suspect you of key sharing.

Many people have a dynamic IP, and it can change sometimes depending on their ISP. I don't think badspot really keeps up with all the IP changes.

I don't know if the question concerns this because it's probably quite obvious but the key itself will not change in the slightest, it's linked to that ID, sorry if that's like a "duhh that's not what I was asking about" thing

p sure badspot generally doesn't care unless there's suspicious ip movement very quickly and inconsistently

basically only if it's apparent that the key is compromised

If you use the key on house A, then move to house B without closing your client in House A, your client in House A will have an auth failure and you'd need to reenter the key. Otherwise, there shouldn't be any problem.

If the key isn't being used at two houses at the same time then you shouldn't have a problem.

Do you know what your key is? If not, I suggest you write it down. If you move houses you're going to have to re-enter your key.

All my computers have different IPs.

You needn't worry.
As many people have said above, if it isn't being used in both places at the same time then A-Okay.
And it would only really throw up a red flag if there was:
...suspicious ip movement very quickly and inconsistently...

Even then, I would expect you'd be able to dispute it with proof c:

He's talking about movement that's impossible for the legit owner of the key to do
Like moving across the country within a few minutes

even when keys are compromised they aren't deactivated until someone brings it up
