Author Topic: A few classic Guns : DB Shotgun + SA Revolver Added  (Read 6030 times)

Alright here we go I finally had some time to make some new stuff I've been somehow missing in Blockland, though we have few Doublebarreled Shotguns, the already existing ones (at least those I've tried) all have their disadvantages at some point, things like that they only provide one shot or just aren't balanced at all so I decided to make some new ones, do you like it?

The triangulation on the double barrel's handgrip and on the normal one's stock really sticks out and is undesirable imo. The revolver could also use a different color scheme; theres a ton of contrast between the colors of the frame of the revolver and the barrel group, provided it's also sort of an eyesore that the barrel group has such a dark texture.

Other than that they're nice. The proportioning and level of detail is very appropriate.

Yeah the stocks are a bit of a sloppy work, on both the Shotgun and the Winchester because they're some of my earlier works which looked even worse before, so that I had to do some changes on them but for some reason I did not change the stocks yet (probably because of I was too focused on the code, getting the Shotgun animation work to see how it turns out to look ingame). The Revolver and the Shotgun both will get a new color scheme as soon as I get too add some more detaill to them (The Shotgun's stock of course and also the Revolver will get an extractor and loading gate) but on revolvers like this the cylinder and barrelgroup mostly where blued, while the frame was color case hardenened so there would still be a contrast between frame and barrel group, not as much as now but still.

Edit : Also I'm not quite sure if should keep the single action revolver's cylinder hexagon or turn it octagon like the barrel.

Definitely make it octagonal. Maybe you have this down better than me but in my experience octagons feel a lot better to work with like in rotation animations and stuff. Hexagons I feel are a lot harder to line up if you're making a minigun or revolver with six barrels/chambers because it's always ended up uneven for me.

The animation is just fine in my opinion, the hexagonal cylinder actually rotates pretty smooth and I found it to be much easier to line up the chambers in a hexagon because of the revolver having six chambers so you could simply put one chamber in each slice of the hexagon. So basically it's just all about the look but also it's kinda funny that I've got the same issues with octagons like you have on the hexagons, the chambers simply won't line up properly it took me so long that I decided to take the cylinder of the revolver I made before.
An octagonal cylinder still might look better on this model so I'm looking forward to get one done.

The models look nice, but some of them look kinda small and awkward in the blockhead's hand.

which ones exactly? They're all a bit smaller than most of the other weapons in Blockland (Pretty much the size of Gcats Default-Weapons which somehow inspired me for these models) but the Calf Navy Revolver will need some resizing though.

got the new model for the Calf Navy Revolver done and also did a little work to the stock of the Doublebarrel Shotgun but those triangles keep showing up.

when it will be available to download?

The logo on the butt of the gun is ugly.

Maybe someday, probably never. I can't surely tell if I'll ever be able to get them into a completely finished state, it's pretty much just beginners stuff and most of the time I still don't really know what I'm doing but it somehow works which is nice.

It's not really on the model, I've just been so upset about the triangles that I wanted to blame it on the Illuminat since I neither know why those triangles keep showing up on the model, nor how I could get rid of them.
