Author Topic: I need help finding a computer to buy.  (Read 1120 times)

How often do you actually need a computer in a place besides the home? Do you have other friends who game on PC and would do a LAN party? Consider carefully if you really need a laptop, because you're going to get a lot less for your money.

THAT SAID: You can still get a pretty darn good laptop for that kind of the money. The Lenovo Y50 is really good, as others have said.

If you don't need the portablity though, you can build an absolute beast of a rig for $1200. Building is as simple as building LEGOs with more fragile parts. As others have said, it's really hard to mess up. I'd say go watch a quick youtube video (they're all over the place) on how to build a PC before judging if you feel comfortable doing it.

I'd highly reccomend you build your own, if for no other reason than because it's fun.  But it will also get you your best bang for your buck. ;)

My uncle is a great computer builder, maybe I'll ask him or something.

Yeah, if you really don't feel comfortable doing it, another option is always to find a friend/family member who is.

But if I build one the parts will build up and easily go overbudget.
I'm not sure what exactly makes you think this, but parts are very cheap and quality depending on what you pick. Building a computer will not only be cheaper than a prebuilt, but also much more bang.

Sure, if you don't feel comfortable doing it then having a family member or a friend do it is a good idea.

this one has treated me well, and now I pass it on to you

You're not helping.
Be serious, no jokes here pls.

If you're considering going the desktop route (Which at your age I would recommend) then I'd have your uncle help you build it, but you should still at least be a part of it so you know where everything is so if for example you want to swap out a harddrive or something you can do it yourself
