I've never had mutton either actually, as far as I know.
Mutton is generally cheaper, but tougher and darker, albeit a stronger flavour than lamb apparently.

I don't think mutton or even lamb is widely sold around here. I remember seeing lamb for sale as a younger kid in major supermarkets but I don't even know if they still sell it.
