Darth maul is still alive, he was brought back as a cyborg by his brother in the clone wars series. The emperor then pays him a visit to tell him that he isn't useful anymore and that Darth Vader will be a better apprentice in which palpatine throws Maul out a window and battles him. Palpatine then kills his brother and then shocks the stuff out of Maul, from there no one knows what happened to Maul weather if he is dead or alive since he isn't heard from again. I don't know if I am correct because I didn't watch the clone wars a lot so he could be alive
