Author Topic: Is the new 3ds XL worth it?  (Read 428 times)

I'm planning on selling my (old) 3ds, flame red, and spending a couple more dollars to buy a new 3ds XL. Problem is, is it worth it? I know, however, that it is amiibo supported and whatnot, but does it run smoother, feel a lot nicer in your hands, etc.?

It has better hardware so it does run better looking games at better framerates. I definitely think it's worth the few bucks you'll spend on an upgrade.

I think it has backwards compatibility, But you won't get better performance on old 3ds games as the clockspeed is pretty much the same.

As for new features/games i think its a decent investment.
And if i was right and it is backwards compatible then you won't loose your older games.

I can confirm the XL in general feels hell of a lot nicer in your hands. Game designed with the New 3DS in mind (like MH4U) will have better graphics and a better framerate, but will still work with the og 3DS.Things load much faster and the web browser is less stuffty also.

Not to mention the 3D is a feature I actually want to use now. Now it tracks your face while playing so it can change the effect of the 3D seamlessly.

It's a decent upgrade and investment especially since you're upgrading from an older model.
