Author Topic: i just saw the new Terminator, what's supposedly wrong with it?  (Read 2325 times)

it's apparently gotten a bunch of bad reviews, and the theatre was really empty. but like... what was supposed to be wrong with it? even the goofy plot worked out really well, especially by previously established standards.
has anyone else here seen it? what are your thoughts?

I'm guessing the plot twist, that was spoiled way before the movie even came out, might've put a lot of people off. I gotta go watch it now, I'm curious now to see this myself.

it's a terminator movie; which one :V

Omg, same. I Saw it at like 7:30, but there was nobody but like 5 people in the theater... crazy. But, the acting was kind of bland by everybody except Arnold and The "John" guy. The CGI was pretty good, but most of it was reused stuff. There were also many holes and problems with the Time traveling stuff. I cringed at the end when the guy said "Well, we are almost out of oxygen, so I guess this is it." That was just... over the line, I want to choke him. But really, this was not good because of the reused effects / bad acting / holes in the plot. At least that's my opinion on it.

EDIT: I did like how they tied the starting of the first movie, into this movie. That was pretty cool.

reused effects
...huh

bad acting
the acting was fine though? like, it wasn't amazing, sure, but it wasn't bad by any means

holes in the plot
what holes even

1...huh

1. The liquid effect was used multiple times in the past movies. There is a certain extent to which you can use the same effect.

2. When there is so much hype for a movie, people would expect better acting.

3. The time travel made no sense. How did John, go back in the past, to see them in the future, while in his same state after Skynet destroyed the world, yet he had been captured and turned into a robot. And how tf did John become a robot, when he was fighting against Skynet the entire time? You would expect there to be some plot twist when he takes some inner stuff or something, and doesn't try to kill them, but nop. In the end, John dies, which was a main guy in the previous movies, and he dies as the bad guy. Would this whole time travel not prevent ALL OF THE PREVIOUS MOVIES from happening?

time travel movies never have a coherent plot dragonoid because hollywood writers didn't use the paradox free time code

...you mean the way that the T-1000 works? why would they change established canon functionality?

from an action movie? nah. it's a terminator movie, they'll never have amazing acting.

John was converted immediately after Kyle went back, he even sees it happening. the scene where Dr. Who assaults him pretty clearly implies that he just used the time machine afterwards
the idea is that there are multiple possible futures, presumably brought on by the more loose modern understanding of time

"I root for Skynet on this one... mainly because I just want to see a bunch of bad actors burned in a nuclear fire."

when the best actor in the movie is Arnold Schwarzenegger then you are doing something wrong..

His organic exterior had been destroyed by then. Same principle as with other terminator models.
