These are tried-and-true mods that do nothing but add good, enjoyable content. Most listed mods add to the gameplay and I believe almost all are compatible with each other.

get Skyrim Redone

totally overhauls the game. new skills, totally revamps skill trees for existing ones, ups damage on everything but makes shields stronger so melee blocking is a must. it even comes with an advanced survival system.

its more fun than the default game and to start off a game with that + the custom start mod (can't recall the name) makes for a totally different experience

There's mods for this stuff too. Try frostfall and the hunger mod and start a new game. I had fun living off the land and hunting for a while.

Frostfall is some swag stuff. Great mod, but I'm not a huge fan of having to carry two sets of armor all the time. Overall I'd recommend it. Most hunger mods though are sorta glitchy (you can't eat too fast or else it doesn't count) but they're nice generally.

Use "TGM" and take on the ebony Warrior with your fists or if you haven't installed Dawnguard or Dragonborn that is your problem.
