does anyone know a decent, cheap laptop

so sorry for having yet another one of these threads, but the school I'm going to next year is requiring we have a laptop for next school year. sounds like total bs to me, but yknow, they're trying to be the "look how cool we are we have tech" part of the district

the required specs are:

2 gb of ram at least
1200 x 800 res at least
11 inch screen at least
at least 4 hours of battery life
and an os windows 7 or younger (this probably includes linux, but I'll probably put it on regardless ((they're the kind of school where they believe apple is best company, so meh)))

anyway, my budget is generally $400 and below, might be able to go slightly higher but probably not

I barely got in only because I had decent grades - they almost kicked me out because they were full but then like 2 spots opened mid year .-.
