Author Topic: Feeling Totally Stumped as to How I'm Going to Make a Drawbridge  (Read 2166 times)

I'm not sure if I should be posting in GD or the gallery, but since I'm not showcasing the build per se, I guess this is the better board? Sorry if I am mistaken.

Anyway, I haven't played Blockland in ages, and I decided to build on single player for a little. Over the past few days, I made a cute little fortress(? it looks more like a manor or something but still) that I decided to use in a CTF or a TDM with capture points (what do you call that?).

Mind you, I'm not asking for a critique on the build itself. I know there are some flaws with it, but that's not the point yet.

I'd almost be done with this part of the build, but the only thing that's been stopping me from finishing is that little brown board in the water. I've been trying to work it into a drawbridge, but I'm just stumped. I've tried looking at reference pictures and looking at other people's builds, but I've just had no luck!

How would you guys go about this?

Do you need advice on how to build a drawbridge or how to make it work like one

The former. I think I can handle the eventing necessary for the latter if I did want to do that.

Pretty easy. Just make a flat rectangle over the moat, and make a flat rectangle going up. Both have to start from the same point. Name every brick of the up moat 'Moat1', and every rectangle from the bottom one 'Moat2'. You can make the chain by using angled poles.

angled poles.

Shoot, those exist!? No wonder I was having trouble!! I'm going to look for a download right now. Thank you so much!

And, yeah, that's how I was planning on eventing it.

EDIT: Legoboss linked me to this rope mod and I'm going to see how it works. I still haven't found the angled poles, and I'll probably search more in a bit. Although, if you have a link to the mod, that'd be awesome! B)

EDIT #2: Played around with the rope mod linked above, and while it's good, I think it might be easier to event with angled poles. I'll probably look into it tomorrow.

You could find it on one of the RTB archives, I don't know how to link a file from them

above should work as a direct link to the file; you could of course also link from the other two archives

Good choice on the ropes mod. It's a good one.
Beware people running up those ropes, though.
And I see you use the more rounded bricks brickpack.
Good choice of addons, most people should have the more rounded bricks pack

Oh, cool, people archived RTB? That's going to be incredibly useful. Man, I missed so much when I stopped playing a few months ago :/.

Thank you so much, guys!
