I don't think they have access to a wikipedia webpage that explains that to them.
They are afraid people running away from their homes which were taken from them.
There are refugee camps in Syria, Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon, as well as support and registry in all the countries/islands they land in to get them onto the correct lists for asylum all across europe and elsewhere.
They'd be hard pressed to get far without finding out where actual help is.
