Author Topic: Computer STILL randomly rebooting?  (Read 624 times)

So I've tried a lot of times to fix this and it just hasn't damn worked.
Before, my computer used to randomly reboot under heavy load, I assumed from a faulty power supply as when it rebooted an error in the bios shows up saying there was a power surge
So, I've replaced that power supply with a better one, but it still reboots.
However this time, it seems to be completely random. When my computer's under heavy load, it doesn't reboot, everythings normal
but it seems on random occasions, it still reboots. Two times so far, and I'm frightened that I could be in the middle of an update or something and mess up my system.
Last time it crashed, only 40-50% of my cpu was in use, whilst 5 out of 8 gb of ram was being used.
Another thing, before it used to have that error in the bios. However, now the bios acts normal.
Also, at one point when the computer crashed, instead of rebooting everything was just frozen. As much as I tried to do anything nothing was happening. I had to force-reboot.

Any suggestions? I may have to check the power connections and general connections again just to be sure that's all in properly.

looks like a ghost is trying to tell you a message in binary by surging the power on and off.

is something overheating?

could be a faulty connection, maybe something's not plugged in all the way

do a memtest on it to see if the ram is okay, then do a burn in test for awhile on the CPU and video card
after that, test the hard drive, and then if they all check out, the motherboard is most likely the problem

overheating usually just shuts down. not reboot.

I think your hdd might be failing.

thank you for your well thought and useful response
seriously stop

I did a memtest and a cpu+gpu burn test
no problems at all

either next I'l check the connections or wait for the computer to crash again if it ever does
if it doesn't then it might've gone away somehow
