Author Topic: So my brother forgeted up his car.  (Read 682 times)

Within 2 days of "owning" it. I helped him wash the car on his first day, and he drove around a bit, to the gas station, to our grandparent's house, and on the next day to work and back.

Then this morning he backed up into a tree. A stationary object on the far side of the street. How he managed to do this, I don't know. My mom thinks he hit acceleration instead of the brakes and just didn't react in time to avoid hitting a tree that's like 30 feet away from where he was supposed to stop.

Is it a cheap car or what? I wouldn't really care if I crashed my current car because I bought it for like $1500 4 years ago

Holy stuff the highways have it out for my family.
On the way back from the hospital we nearly crashed into some idiot that swerved in front of us, so narrowly avoiding a 5-car pile up on the interstate. Then this happened this morning. Then holy stuff, this afternoon. Someone (I wasn't there for this one) swerved around my mom's car with her and my brother in it. He was honking his horn, acting like he wanted them to stop or crash, and then speeds off. Then they're stopped at a red light ahead of a bridge, and the guy comes back, gets out of his car and starts yelling at them something like "YOU ALMOST KILLED ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND" and punched the car's window! Then my mom just sped out of there.

This is a recollection from my brother.

Did he have insurance at least?

owned was between quotes for a reason, the car's registered under my dad's name. It was probably worth something like 800$ now, but it's not like we just have that kind of money to spare. It was an old, beige sedan that my dad used to move equipment and materials when he was a handy man.

part of learning to drive is loving up cars.  scratches, dents, bumpers.  that's why owning a really nice car as a first car is a terrible idea.  if he backed into the tree i would hope it wasn't at an extremely high speed.  buy zip ties and fix the bumper back in place if it came off and hit the road again.
