well, i tried to continue with what you guys told me, but i only got me so far, I'm still stuck. i gave up, but now I'm trying again.

my computer had a data overload (not that anyone cares) and i had to format it. so i have to do this all over again. now, i got most of it done, but now i have another prob. when i did that "ipconfig/all" thing, the only DNS servers numbers that showed up was 192.168.1.1, the same ipaddress for the modem page. is that okay? what do i do now?

you dont need it all you need is your routers static ip and your computers static ip

like mine is:

router:192.168.1.1

computer:192.168.1.2

you can usually find both of them at the router page
