Author Topic: a point about psychology that's been on my mind for a while  (Read 1370 times)

that isn't what counseling is for, it's for showing apathy and handing them a rope

Hmm, I guess you do need to learn more about psychology and mental disorders then.

...you understand i'm 15 and i'm not in college for psychology or anything, right? these are all just thoughts i had during that session.

I understand I don't know much about the subject, yes. that's why i want to go to college to learn about it.

holy stuff
in experience, this couldn't be closer to the truth with most psychology people

i personally think psychology is a joke and a way for the pharmaceutical market to gain revenue. i saw a psychologist one time and they "diagnosed" me with a bunch of bullstuff and i refused to take the pills they gave me.

no one can predict the human mind, not even in our age can we interpret the mind properly.

ZNSO kinda has a point
I studied Psychology my freshman year, and trust me, Psychology is alot more than mental disorders and mental abnormalities.

hahaha what the hell am i reading

My main concern is that a lot of it is based on subjective notions of normalcy. It really feels like it should be replaced by neurology some day, but its the best we can do at this point in time.

Sweet lord what the forget did I just read holy stuff

here's an brown townogy i like to use. if you see a hungry boy sitting on the ground and you have a sandwich in your hand, you don't sit there on the floor with him and say "yeah i'm hungry too, i feel." that doesn't do stuff, much less if you don't even have a sandwich. you hand the boy the sandwich, you tell him how to make his own sandwich, and you let him become self sufficient.
what a bad brown townogy
if someone's partner dies and I have a partner, I can't give them half my partner. I can't teach them how to get a partner, because I'd only be teaching them how to get the kind of people I get. not to mention the fact that getting a new partner is absolutely the wrong way to grieve the loss of one. in fact, having lost a partner would make me that much better at helping them get through it
maybe it's a good brown townogy for like how to deal with the homeless or something but not for frickin emotional support

you'd probably agree with this guy
