Earlier today, had to go to an area (town) science fair because I won my school's science fair. My project was based around force and how much power a rotor can generate landing in the category of physics. Won first place in my school's science fair so I was pretty confident on this one. Except the fact, my board looked like turd with horse urine times a thousand; ha, just exaggerating. However, seriously, it was "meh". I used clear tape to plaster my papers all over my board instead of using the old fashioned blue. Man, the tape REALLY stuck out; and not in a good way!
When I got there, I was basically like, "These guys got nothing on me". Once I walk in, I literally freeze because these guys were prepared, holy crap. Lots of interesting projects such as modeling and powering. Though, I'm not gonna lie. There were some pretty hot 8th grade girls in there. Once the feels sat aside, went and set up my board next to my friend who also won the school's science fair. Judging started at like 9:00AM and I waited 2 hours until the judges finally came. The judges switched right over from my friend to me. I was ready and I was ready to bomb. However, I was so nervous at the same time I made several mistakes in my speech.
I was judged by THREE judges at the same time so the pressure was real. Got done presenting, they asked me to leave. "Leave? What?!" I thought. If you were outstanding with your project, you were asked to stay and be judged twice. Obviously, I wasn't told to stay so I had a pretty jealous day. Returned at 1:00 for public viewing. At 1:30, the awards were coming on. Right when they got to the final grade (8th), I was hyped. First round, didn't hear my name. Alright, I guess. Second round, heard my name; but I didn't get an outstanding, I got FIRST place (in this case, it's technically 2nd place). I was so disappointed. I had a 92 out of 100 from the judges' scores. You had to get a 93 for outstanding. Such a sour taste was left in my mouth.
However, at the end, the lead team had chosen some plebs to go to the regional science fair. I took it as a grain of salt in which I knew I wouldn't get chosen. However, me and my friend along with some seven and eighth graders were chosen to go to the regional science fair. Going to the Regional's Science Fair on March 12th now and the location is about an hour away. Wish me luck, Blockland Forums.
