it started leaking more and more as the liberal agenda was furthered and degeneracy became more rampant as promoted by the media
alternatively, social media has grown tremendously, and it's a lot easier now to form communities and networks on many different platforms. it's also a lot easier to gain visibility once you have a presence, hence the fact that people somehow manage to find the most obscure extreme cases of people being nutcases all the time.
it's a lot less like there's some kind of systemic push for people to become insane and a lot more like it's just becoming a lot easier to notice "wow people can be loving crazy sometimes," and probably that it's also a lot easier to say "woah i'm just as crazy as you isn't that crazy."
of course, the positives of these media far outweigh the fact that you might see someone's opinion that you don't like, or that someone might be able to be an starfish, so i figure it's fair enough
