i used to have teamviewer before my old laptop's hard drive died

this is good to know though. i was going to try and install it today

Any good alternatives that work with tablets?
assuming your tablet is an android tablet (and if it wasn't I'm sure you'd have said ipad instead of "tablet") tightvnc seems to have an android client
and it's open source which is always a good thing when you're putting your security in the hands of some software

I do not need sound. How much lag is there typically?

depending on your connection, but pretty much minimal and easy to use

sliding with two fingers acts as a scroll
and a long press is a right click

ctrl alt delete is an option, and a cursor mode where you drag your finger to move it, for when you cant tap small areas or big fingers
