Going to get my supernumerary tooth removed.

So while I was getting my checkup at the dentist a while back, the dentists said that I "might" have another tooth growing in the roof of my mouth. So a bit later I went to another place to get a thorough x-ray scan (probably got radiation sickness at that point), and they confirmed it was another tooth. So tomorrow (or it might already be tomorrow for some of you) I'm gonna get this damn thing removed. But here's the thing that kinda makes me a bit worried, anesthesia. Never have I ever gotten this stuff before, and with good reason. So have you guys gotten a supernumerary tooth removed? And do any of you know what it's really like to get anesthesia? Just asking before I have to go through this well um, new experience.

Anesthesia is a relaxant and it puts you to sleep within minutes. Had to go through it once and I have to go through a second time to get wisdom teeth removed

I will probably have to get mine removed as well. Although they aren't causing me any problems yet as they're coming in.

pretty sure people used to lose teeth a lot faster in the past
and so those teeth would normally grow in after the others were gone

So your saying it's basically spare teeth? I'm doubtful of that because I have a baby tooth thats crammed between two adult ones that never had an adult one under it. My dentist said my options were to either leave it the way it is or get a false tooth put in.

If you're under general anaesthetic you won't feel a thing. You'll fall asleep faster than you think and should have a deep dreamless sleep. Next thing you know you'll be awake however many hours later and the procedure will be done. It will be like time travel.

If it's a local anaesthetic then you will feel pain from the prick of the needle delivering it, but you won't feel any pain in your mouth during. But you'll be awake for the entire procedure. Your mouth and face will feel numb after (like you've slept on it) and you may have difficulty speaking or closing your mouth to eat/drink.
That should last a couple of hours after your surgery.

evolution's not done, dawg. it's still going. we've just seriously slowed it down with medicine and junk. cus like in the wild someone would probably die if they lost all their teeth. but it's not like we're gonna let that happen now

There's not really any evidence to say we've slowed down the rate of evolution in our species.
Technology/Civilisation/Medicine may have dampened some selection pressures, but there may be many more known/unknown which we don't control which will affect us. Of course no drastic change will be seen across the general population for tens/hundreds of thousands of years, as that's the scale that evolution takes place at. And we've only even known to look for change for just under 200 years.

the dentists thought they'd have to remove all 4 of mine, but my bottom 2 came in no problem and now they're saying my top two might not ever come in (even though i have them, they're just super high up and surrounded by bone)

UPDATE: So I got the thing removed, they couldn't salvage it for me since it was really small and got sucked up by one of those sucky thingys. Still numb af on my lip, and getting loadsa blood (no biggy). But I have to take pills for the pain and let me tell you. I hate pills, never had one so it took like 3 tries before I found the right method. Anyways I think that wraps up this thread, might lock.

Edit: So going through anesthetics was well. Interesting. It felt like a 10 - 15 minute surgry, but in reality it took like a hour, so what I believe is that I passed out woke up again and passed out. Though I was saying the most random crap when I talked.

My dad had one of those. I grew behind his bottom teeth right in the center of his mouth so you always saw it when he opened his mouth. My mom even called it "Toothie". Then he got it pulled out cause he got tired of it.
