Author Topic: Hey gun nuts, are 80% lowers reliable?  (Read 891 times)

Hey BlocklandGunForums, I'm gonna build another AR15 but this time with an 80% lower since Hillary will probably win.
If you don't know what a 80% lower is, its basically a lower receiver that hasn't been milled, so the government considers it as a piece of metal. Assembled, its an AR15 that cannot be traced cuz it has no serial numbers. You don't need a background check to buy one, and its not illegal to do so. (actually depends on state iirc)

^^^You see, the trigger housing isn't milled out yet.

Anyway, does anyone know how reliable 80% lowers would be? Can they take 1500 rounds without having issues? I plan on using a buddy's jig.

no im not gonna loving start a Flash Mob spree

it'll probably blow up in your face and then We will finally be free of you

If it's a solid aluminum 80% lower than it should be able to stand as many rounds as you want to put through it. The only lowers I've noticed ever have any 'exploding' issues is if they're mostly made of plastics. If it's a solid chunk of metal than it should last forever. It will for sure out live any barrels on the same rig.

The cheapest lower receivers I've found are around $45-50 for a plastic/metal hybrid. Those are the cheapest you'll find and are perfect for 'range' shooting. Just don't take them anywhere rough... Solid metal will last forever.

Yeah, I was planning on getting a metal one.
