Author Topic: is it a good idea to buy a gaming laptop for college?  (Read 2277 times)

are you living on-campus/plan on spending a lot of time hanging out away from home with friends playing games or smth? if not, then just get a decent laptop that won't turn into plasma when you try to run microsoft word and watch youtube and leave the true gamer's hours for home.

especially if it'd have to be financed with a loan. don't take out any more student loans than you need to, and also just don't go into debt for a computer unless it's absolutely essential or it's somehow guaranteed a return (which in this case i'd probably say it isn't).

(do NOT put them on your lap; it's actually become a serious problem of men becoming sterile from leaving hot laptops on top of their testicle region)
uhhh stuff

well I put my laptop cover between my legs and the laptop so hopefully I'll be fine.

otherwise guess I'm forgeted.

On your lap, fine.

Touching your balls, that's no good.

oh okay good

If you like playing games then you should get a computer capable of playing them, getting a gaming laptop isn't the best choice but you definitely want to be able to do that in college if that's what you're interested in. I have a laptop that I brought with me to college that runs games fine on medium settings which is all I need.

and i suggest no; with a bit of effort you can probably find more interesting and relevant uses of your time other than games. and if it really comes down to it you'll find a way to get games back even without a gaming laptop.
You shouldn't do this, obviously you want to do other stuff and be social in college but if gaming is something that you enjoy then make it work.

or a chromebook
I would strongly advise against this, unless all you want to do with the computer is write stuff and watch Netflix.

The only reason why I'm hesitant to take my desktop is because of roommates possibly tampering with my stuff. If I had a laptop, I know where it would be at all times: with me.

This, chromebooks are pretty stuff and can barely even handle browser games lol

Nobody is going to mess with your desktop. It's fine to bring it to college, tons of people do it.

might look into this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DT4A2R4/

low end laptop, but should be able to support source games (all i pretty much play is cs:go, gmod, and tf2). i'll play AAA titles on my ps4
