Author Topic: Old fort wars server I never got around to hosting  (Read 1668 times)

I don't host servers; my network is already pretty terrible. I knew about server hosting services but not whether or not I would get into them. Nevertheless, I built (and still do build) builds in solo mode meant to be made into hosted servers.

I'm a fort wars fanatic; it's probably the only type of server I visit nowadays. The heat of battle mixed with the endless possibilities for what your base can look like make it something you can pour hours into. Years ago, when maps were still around, I started to build a "master fort" in solo mode that drew massive inspiration from Dread's fort in his old fort wars server; it was like an old castle but still outfitted for modern combat and living. My original build started on the map "Mars" and transitioned to "Slate" after the removal of maps. Dread was still building his base at the time I caught sight of it, but it was so interesting that when he stopped hosting I put it to myself to finish it in my mind's eye. I think Dread would've made a cooler base, judging from what I've most recently seen him build, but I have to say I'm impressed with myself. At the time, this build was my magnum opus.

While I was building the fort, I considered, instead of building a fort and loading it into other fort wars servers, hosting my own server. After all, I was using add-on bricks and not really keeping up with new add-ons as they came out. For example, the fort comes with JVS doors and the old events that came with them, which everyone ditched for the door update. The server became a fully-realized thing, to my surprise; it had its own rules and guidelines and was, in every essence, a complete server in solo mode. Now, because I really have nothing better to do with it, I'm going to put it on Gallery to dazzle some people.

The server consists of three significant buildings: the area where you learn the rules, the spawn point on the map, and the crown jewel: my fort.

The rules area is pretty basic and doesn't contain much detail. The special thing about it is that you are forced to read and comprehend each rule before you play. It also has a nice demonstration to show what spam is/isn't.

Once you're done reading the rules, you're transported to the spawn point. The spawn point is designed to look like a rest stop. Here, players hit the checkpoint, grab a gun, and head out to build. Longhorns are available for those wanting to travel long distances. Players are expected to share the Longhorns and not spawnkill people at the spawn point.

Here is what I called the "Master Admin Fort". This fort was, as previously mentioned, based off of one of Dread's forts and was meant to be a major hub for the admins. The admins would work together as part of an alliance and would use this fort to meet up. In addition to that, it was to be my fort.

The fort comes equipped with seventeen turrets and six vehicles. Of the turrets, five are interchangeable, and all six vehicles can be changed to different vehicles via consoles in the vicinity. The base has three helipads, two for cargo and attack choppers each, and one for visiting choppers, located under the landing strip in the scrapyard. Below the two helipads and at the front of the fort, there is a meeting room for formulating plans, with a miniature version of the fort on display, and across from that is the garage. The garage has two doors for two vehicles, one being cargo and one being for attack vehicles. Visiting land vehicles go through the gates at the scrapyard. On top of the garage are two airstrips, again, one for cargo planes and the other for fighter jets. There is an airstrip for visiting planes located at the top of the connect between the front and back of the fort. Between the garage and the meeting room is the main entryway, which holds a jail cell and branches off into the two main towers. Each tower is built to allow for people to fire out of them. At the back of the fort, there's an infirmary and a workshop, underneath the fireplace room, whose purpose is to hide the spawn point from attackers. On top of the fireplace room is a port for deploying mechs. Across from that collection of rooms is the living room. Here, admins relax in between battles and can warp to the server spawn point via teleport. In between the two rooms is a firing range. The fort has no armory; scattered around the base are twelve "classes": item givers that provide you with weapons for a certain class.

Photos here are scrambled; it would be too much of a hassle to unscramble them. Enjoy.

Overall, this is a load off of my back and hopefully something you'll all get to enjoy despite the fact that I didn't host it. Feel free to rate x/10, but keep criticism constructive. I don't plan on editing this or redoing it, so all feedback is going to be considered for future projects.

This looks really neat! Might have to check it out later.

UDPATE: "Master Admin Fort" photos added.

Keep in mind I don't plan on hosting this.

Nice built! I love fortwars and it's like the type of servers I joined nowadays (if I am even online) besides Boss Battles.
