Author Topic: What Can I Use To Make Models?  (Read 1529 times)

i'm planning to make an add-on. however, i don't know what app i could i use to model what i'm planning...
anyone knows any application i can use to make a model?

blender is probably better than milkshape since milkshape is out of date as forget and is a paid program, while blender is actually used in modern day industry/game development (albeit much less than say, Maya).

Shaper

Use blender with ports exporter

sketchup and wings3d

its good to start modeling in something like sketchup, which is an easy medium for turning sketches into full 3d models. then you can just process it in blender and export it.

blender has a forgeted learning curve so i wouldn't dive into that immediately

You young whippersnappers calling everything apps these days.

Blender is a good free program, especially with Port's exporter.

Blender 3D is easy to learn depending on what you do to learn it. If you watch Blender Cookie tutorials, then it will help you learn a lot.

Plastic or paper

But in all seriousness, Blender is great, although it is indeed a little tricky to learn, as others have said. But IMO it is VERY worth learning because it is a versatile program.
The newer version of Blender are definitely easier to learn than the older versions. Just keep in mind that the majority of functions/buttons in the program aren't relevant to Blockland modding, so just take it slow and try not to feel overwhelmed.
As Ozmar mentioned, Blender Cookie is a great place to start for tutorials. I recommend starting with a tutorial covering the UI at least.
Blender Guru is another great source of tutorials. A large portion of their tutorials are geared more toward rendering and artistic stuff, but they still have some stuff relevant to Blockland modding.
